About the Midlands Aerospace Alliance (MAA)

The Midlands Aerospace Alliance (MAA) is a premier organisation that represents one of the world’s largest aerospace clusters, despite the Midlands not manufacturing aircraft themselves. Instead, the region is a powerhouse in designing and producing the aero engines and sophisticated systems—mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic—that are essential for aircraft functionality. With nearly a quarter of the UK aerospace industry based here, along with substantial contributions to European and global markets, the Midlands is home to over 40,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs dedicated to the aerospace sector, alongside another 20,000 jobs supported by major airports and RAF bases.

The MAA encompasses over 270 member organisations, ranging from global leaders like Rolls-Royce, Collins Aerospace, and Moog Aircraft Group, to dynamic small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the aerospace supply chain. The alliance is committed to fostering growth and competitiveness within the industry, ensuring that the Midlands remains at the forefront of aerospace innovation and excellence.

Our Journey with MAA

TLM Lasers has been a proud member of the MAA for several years. Throughout this period, we have witnessed the substantial benefits that come with being part of such a vibrant and supportive community. Our participation in MAA events, seminars, and workshops has not only expanded our network but has also deepened our understanding of the latest trends and technologies shaping the aerospace industry.

The Value of MAA Membership

The MAA provides its members with a wealth of resources and opportunities that are crucial for business development and innovation:

  • Knowledge Sharing and Networking: The MAA organises over 20 events annually, including seminars, workshops, and networking sessions with key customer companies. These events have allowed us to connect with potential customers, suppliers, and partners, fostering valuable business relationships.
  • Expert Support: The MAA offers expert guidance on various aspects of aerospace business, from marketing and new business development to technology funding and supply chain performance improvements. Programs like the Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP) and Aerospace UP provide vital funding and support for innovative projects.
  • Strategic Coordination: The MAA actively represents the Midlands aerospace community in national and international forums, ensuring that our regional interests are well-represented. This advocacy is crucial for creating a conducive business environment and securing resources for continued growth and innovation.

Looking Ahead

Renewing our membership with the MAA reaffirms our commitment to excellence and innovation in the aerospace sector. We are eager to continue leveraging the vast array of resources and support provided by the MAA, which have been instrumental in our growth and success as a leading provider of laser solutions for aerospace manufacturing across the UK.

As we look towards the future, we are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. The aerospace industry is poised for rapid expansion, and with the continued support of the MAA, TLM Laser is well-positioned to contribute to this growth while maintaining our reputation for quality and innovation.

We extend our gratitude to the MAA for their support and look forward to many more years of successful collaboration. Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in aerospace manufacturing, driving forward with a shared vision of excellence and innovation.
