Next Generation Software in Plastics Welding

<<< Press Release from Evosys Laser GmbH >>>

Laser welding of plastics is an industrially established and widely used technology in production and with its Next Generation HMI, Evosys Laser GmbH is once again raising the operation and visualization of the welding process to a new level.

This Next Generation HMI for the EVOSYS laser system was designed to simplify the operation of the plastic laser welding process, including its mechanical movements. The new solution is functionally independent of the control system and can be adapted to any growing requirements by smart additional modules.

A central overview is provided by three cockpits, giving the operator information tailored to his area of activity - process, production and statistics. All other subpages are arranged in function groups, with the header on each page having the same structure. This shows basic information about the machine - operating mode, information, warning, fault messages - as well as the current time and the current unique window number. Basic navigation is carried out via a sidebar, which contains the corresponding operating elements.

The EVOSYS Next Generation HMI also handles the visualization and evaluation of the process data, eliminating the need for additional hardware. The central cockpit displays all process-relevant information about the currently processed assembly. In addition, the last data records can be compared in the history of the HMI. A statistics page uses various counters to record order and production quantities and determines quality parameters. These are then displayed graphically.

The HMI is also used to store recipe data sets, export and import envelopes, create them and other system functions. For example, the monitoring of the hard disk capacity or the display of a USB camera can be integrated. This means that the system can be operated with different machine controllers such as Beckhoff or Siemens, which are not visible to the end user. This does not change the functionality and above all the operation of the machine.

"With our new HMI, we not only offer our customers a uniform solution with high operating convenience and a modern look and feel, but also improve the visualization and evaluation options of our systems and machines. We are thus also offering a solution to master the challenges of digitalization," - Frank Brunnecker, Managing Director of Evosys Laser GmbH.
